We had a fantastic day representing Mind Body EDS at the Mercy4Mankind event in Tilford, Surrey, with our Chair, Trustee and one of our wonderful volunteers attending on behalf of the charity on bank holiday Monday 31 August.
It was a brilliant opportunity to talk to people locally about Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), explain the work of our charity and raise some much-needed awareness.
We also raised an amazing £140.35! A huge thank you to everyone who supported us. But one of the biggest successes of the day was the connections we made.
We are now in touch with the outreach team at AMYA UK, with the possibility of delivering a future talk about our charity and EDS. There were also several medical professionals at the event, and we made a connection with a doctor working at Frimley Hospital, who is interested in a future awareness talk too.
These opportunities are so important to us. Raising funds enables us to help people directly, but raising awareness amongst healthcare professionals has the potential to help change the experience of EDS and HSD patients for years to come.
A huge thank you to Mercy4Mankind for welcoming us, and to everyone who stopped by our stand, asked questions, donated and took the time to learn more about EDS and HSD.
A really successful day for fundraising, advocacy and building relationships in our local community.
Every conversation creates awareness. Every connection creates an opportunity for change.
